Climate and Green Agenda Forum in Skopje on 26 September

The Institute for Good Governance and Policies in the Environment and Climate Change – Skopje (IPECC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning of the Republic of North Macedonia, is pleased to announce the "2023 Civil Society and Think Tank Forum Event for Climate and Green Agenda."

Date: 26 September 2023, Skopje, North Macedonia

This forum is not just another event; it's a pivotal moment where government representatives, private sector leaders, EU and international organizations representatives, civil society advocates, and think-tank experts from across the Western Balkan Countries (WBC) will converge for a crucial dialogue. The event is organized within the 2023 Berlin Process Civil Society and Think Tank Forum – Tirana 2023.

The aim of this forum is to establish a dynamic platform for dialogue in the WB region and beyond and unite diverse stakeholders, all working collaboratively to tackle the pressing issues of climate change and sustainability in the region as well to explore possibilities for implementation of the EU Green Agenda for the Western Balkan.

The Western Balkans face unique challenges and needs when it comes to climate and environment. This event will be an opportunity to jointly discuss and devise realistic and plausible recommendations that will be presented to EU and Western Balkan leaders at the upcoming Berlin Process Summit in Tirana, Albania.

Moreover, the event will be an opportunity to explore the possibility for taking common regional actions to support Green Agenda implementation and moving towards carbon neutral societies.

The TWG “Climate and Green Agenda”

The Thematic Working Group (TWG) on Climate and Green Agenda, led by IPECC, is comprised of twenty representatives from civil and think-tank organizations across the Western Balkans who, in the last several months, jointly discussed and explored the vision of the Western Balkan to ensure more sustainable path.

Implementation of the Green Agenda requires political dialogue and participation of all stakeholders. It calls for broad regional cooperation between the EU and the WBC. “Green Infrastructure Investment” is the main topic of the TWG on Climate and Green Agenda, simultaneously highlighting the importance of “Good Governance in Environment” and “Biodiversity and Protection of Natural Resources”.
