Representatives from civil society, media, and parliamentarians from the Western Balkans and EU Memb
In 2024, the CSF was organized by the Southeast Europe Association and the Aspen Institute Germany, generously supported by the German Federal Foreign Office.
Seven thematic working groups led by civil society organizations from the Western Balkans were formed to exchange ideas and to develop specific recommendations on certain policy areas.
To promote the perspectives of civil society, leaders of the working groups engaged in advocacy with key stakeholders, including from the European Commission, EU Member States, Western Balkan governments, German federal ministries, and important regional organizations. Civil society had opportunities to engage with public panels at the Civil Society and Think Tank Forum in October 2024, which was attended by nearly 200 stakeholders from across Europe. In addition, the Forum commissioned a stocktaking study to mark the 10th anniversary of the Berlin Process.
Civil society leaders handed recommendations directly to presidents, prime ministers, and chancellors at the Berlin Process Summit in Berlin on October 14, 2024.
