Regional Preparatory Meeting for the London Summit of the Western Balkans

In the framework of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs Network of the GIZ Open Regional Fund “Promotion of EU Integration” and in close collaboration with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the regional meeting titled “Preparation for the Summit on the Western Balkans in London” is being held in Tirana on 28th and 29th of May, 2018.

The aim of the meeting is to provide general update on preparations for the London Summit, as well as the opportunity for detailed working sessions on the expected outcomes of the Summit in different respective areas. The meeting gathered representatives of the Western Balkans governments, namely form the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Ministries of Interior and Advisors from the Prime Ministers offices.

In the opening panel, the meeting participants were addressed by Ms. Odeta Barbullushi, Chief of Staff to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, H.E. Duncan Norman, British Ambassador in Tirana, H.E. Susanne Schütz, German Ambassador in Tirana and Mr. Sam Jeremy, from the UK Foreign Office.

GIZ Open Regional Fund “Promotion of EU Integration” is being actively involved in supporting partner institutions in their preparations for the Berlin Process Summit on the Western Balkans, to be held in London in July 2018. The meetings organized with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs Network reflect priority issues to be covered by the London Summit, in order to ensure an effective participation and a sufficient preparedness for the upcoming Summit.
